Photos: Live Oak In Action

Partnering with Rev. Zsuzsa Bartha, the minister for a small Unitarian church in Nagykaroly, Transylvania, Live Oak raised funds to help build a playground for children in the community. Check out photos of the playground and more.

Fun fact: Zsuzsa is wearing a Live Oak UU t-shirt.

Live Oak's first Winter Holiday Concert was a huge success. We filled the house on Dec. 19 for a wonderful program of music. Several photos are available.
On Nov. 25, Live Oak members, friends, and their guests enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner together -- followed by a candlight vespers service of gratitude. Enjoy a few more photos of this event.
Photos of volunteers from many organizations, including Live Oak UU, working together in Oakland on 10-10-10. Everyone worked together to revitalize Laney College's community garden, offering skills-building workshops, listening to dynamic speakers, and bringing together local leaders for climate justice.

Live Oak UU introduced ourselves to our community with a float featuring our choir while teens walked alongside handing out bookmarks (with UU quotes, famous UUs, and our name and website). Folks loved the songs we sang. Many asked our walking teens for more information about us! Woo-hoo!

Photos from the Religious Exploration Workshop (April 25, 2010). A report from this workshop will be posted soon.
Photos of a Live Oak worship service (Dec. 6, 2008). Here Kate Hand tells our children about Hanukkah. We traditionally begin our services with our children and youth. Shortly after "the story for all ages," the children leave for their religious education class. See more worship photos. Children of all ages listening to a story during a service

Below: Our Holiday Gathering (December 14, 2009) -- Adults and children celebrating the winter holidays (Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa) together. We sang carols, played dreidle, and made holiday decorations, including Danish hearts.
